Teacher

Liyu Hua received his PhD in Asian Literature, Religion, and Culture from Cornell University and a Master of Theological Studies at Harvard Divinity School. After teaching at Bowdoin College from 2023 to 2024, he joined the General Education Programme at CUHK. He taught various levels of courses on Buddhism, Hindu literature, Religious Violence, and Religion and Gender. His research interests include the theory of language in South Asia before 1000 CE, the Buddhist commentarial tradition, the narrative strategy of South Asian literature, and Indian poetics.
