GE Series

In 1999, the Office of University General Education began publishing a series of works entitled the GE Series in collaboration with the Chinese University Press.  The objective of publishing the series is to enhance public awareness of the significance of General Education (GE).  The editorial committee of the series has invited all teachers on campus responsible for the teaching of GE courses to participate in the series writing plan.  Teachers can edit the contents of the GE courses that they teach and relevant teaching materials into books for publication after review and recommendation by the editorial committee.  The RCGE has been responsible for the publication work since its establishment in 2005.  

Under the 3 + 3 + 4 curriculum in 2012, first-year undergraduates will be required to take two GE foundation courses entitled In Dialogue with Nature and In Dialogue with Humanity.  The core of these courses consists in reading classics of various cultural traditions.  The editorial committee of the GE Series plans to invite writers with a connection to the GE curriculum of The Chinese University of Hong Kong to write a “classics” series to contribute to the development of the curriculum and foster the spirit of the classics at CUHK.
